In this video you watch me paint the third session for over two hours on my new figure oil painting.

I begin by showing you how I prepare the painting before beginning, and I share my thoughts as I decide what direction to take the painting today.

The primary focus of this session is on the background. The figure is not cropped tight in the work, and the background is an important part of this painting. I love painting the stone wall behind the figure. Nature has provided some beautiful warm and cool green's, reds, yellows and many other shades, as well as some very inetersting textures.

Some of the topics discussed are values and mixing paint to get just the right tone, and scumbling.

Capturing this rugged old green stone wall in paint in a manner that compliments the soft beautiful figure in the foreground is the challenge.
