OCTOBER 26, 2006 - Johnson Art Collection Gallery at 8304 Melrose Ave Los Angeles, CA
The Art Exhibition on Human Rights was a huge success. Attendees included famous actress Ann Archer, as shown in the photo standing with Mark in front of Mark's painting, "Shackled".
Mark's 16x20" realistic oil painting, which was featured in the press release for the show, beautifully illustrates an African American woman facing the heavens, hands together in prayer but clasped in shackles. The expert rendering of the dramatic light on face and hands in prayer, in contrast to the darker shackles that bind, serve to emphasize the yearning for complete freedom that some of us face in our daily lives.
I believe the show's next stop on the world tour is San Francisco.
