Portrait Procedure

The first meeting with the client is to determine the scope, size, location where the portrait will hang, and all the variables that will help the artist use his imagination to fully present the subject in a creative manner. Often the first meeting is the time for a photography session and possible sketches.

Normally, about one hour is required to photograph the subject in a variety of poses and lighting combinations. This can be done on location or in the artist studio. For those rare instances where it's not possible for me to take the photographs, I will assist you or your photographer in providing the very best possible resource material. I can also work from life if the model would like to take the time to sit while I paint.

Once the resource photos are acquired, I will present some options to help you determine the composition, size, and the price. Paintings are priced without frame.

A one third deposit is due at the start of the painting, another one third due when the painting is approaching completion, and the final payment at the time of delivery.

You can expect your portrait to be ready for pick-up in about 30-90 days depending on complexity, and oil studies within 1- 2 weeks.

* All materials are considered archival and of the finest grade.
*Size will be determined by artist and customer depending on composition. Generally paintings will be close to, or slightly smaller than, life size.
* Prices quoted are based on simple nondescript backgrounds. Specific, detailed backgrounds may be quoted separately.
* The addition of props and other compositional elements may be quoted separately
* A Second person may be included in the composition at 70% above quoted price. Third person and more may be included at 50%.
