ON THE EASEL
Ballerina In The Park
24×36″ oil on linen
I hand stretched my favorite fine weave linen, toned the canvas and let dry for two days. Below is the result of my first paint layer. I kept the paint thin. The face is considerably smaller in this work than my last two because I wanted to depict her out stretched leg in a rectangular format set back in a scene. The cheek pressed against her knee will pose additional challenges. When viewing a work at an early stage like this, it takes alot of faith to believe that it will eventually turn into a beauty!
